Atomic City Invitational

January 13, 2024

Join us for a fun Saturday at the 7th Annual Atomic City Invitational on January 13, 2024 at Jefferson Middle School, 200 Fairbanks Rd, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The Invitational offers regional FLL teams to compete in the following events. On site registration will open at 8:30am and the closing ceremony will start at approximately 4:00pm.

Masterpiece

Competition Rules

This is your chance to try or re-try the Lego  Masterpiece Challenge. We will run the table competition according to official FLL rules. This gives everyone a chance to be hands on with the robot.

Masterpiece - Alliance Challenge

Each alliance has 90 seconds to score as many points on the table as possible running two robots. Each team must use their own team robot. All robots must start in base but they can be picked up at any time without penalty. Each alliance can have 4 people at the table running their respective robots. Two tables will run simultaneously -- four teams / two alliances at a time. Referees add up the points at the end of each match and determine a winner for that match -- no questions asked. Team pairings will be determined based on round one challenge scores. The alliance challenge will run on a single elimination bracket.

Sumo Bot Challenge

Competition Rules

Named after the famous Japanese competition, in the Lego Sumo Bot challenge, robots attempt to force one another out of a 4' diameter circular ring (dohyo) by pushing or disabling one's opponent. Please check the competition rules carefully for details on robot design restrictions, weight limits and allowed moves. May the best robot win.

Lego Great Ball Contraption

Instructions

Build a module to be inserted in the Lego Great Ball Contraption. Checkout the instructions for details how to build a model. Members of the TN Valley Lego Club will be there with some of their modules and will insert yours into the sequence for the day.
